10 Reasons You'll Love Prime Loops

About Us

We are Prime Loops, in a word (well, a few words) we make tasty sounds that you can use in your music! Still confused? Don't be! We are an extremely passionate select team of musicians, DJ's, engineers, designers and labels based in London, who first and foremost, absolutely love music!

The Prime Loops Team is:

Ben Jayakody [Managing Director]

"The man with the plan!"

A true grass-roots entrepreneur! After years on the production and sampling scene, he knew that he could provide a better, up to the moment product than anybody else. The company has quickly expanded, thanks to his unstoppable energy and dedication, combined with his understanding of the needs of professional producers. Self-proclaimed sushi expert, Ben is also known as former beatbox champion Mowgli (2001) seen sharing stages with major-league UK artists such as Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Fingathing, Rodney P & Foreign Beggars. Constantly hungry for inspiration, he enjoys travelling the world, finding new sounds and pushing his projects to the next level. With Ben behind his big desk, there's no stopping the rise of Prime Loops.

First Record: Rakim + Art of Noise - Metaforce (Roni Size remix)

Rene Steuns [Product Manager]

"Feet in the clubs, head in the charts!"

A long-time electronic music fetishist and fully trained audio engineer, Rene is the conductor of the Prime Loops catalogue, developing boundary-pushing sample pack ideas and managing a multitude of talent worldwide. Hailing from Holland, raised in Germany, and situated in London, his well-travelled brain has been soaking up music marketing expertise for many years. Whether during his time at VIVA TV, as a long-time music consultant for Sony Ericsson, or as a DJ/Producer. Occupying the A&R chair, he keeps his fingers in all the Prime Loops pies. Friendly to both chart toppers and basement dwellers, his personal collection leans towards edgy pop and stomping electro, but whatever your style, he's sure to have a next style ready to blow your mind.

First record: Paul Hardcastle - 19

Tom Oldfield [Graphic Desiger/Web Developer]

"The Master-Tweaker!"

Almost all of our staff are dedicated to providing the stuff you hear on primeloops.com, but Tom is the man who creates everything you see. He illustrates the perfect packaging to communicate the musical style of each of our products instantly, and he takes care of all the computer stuff that nobody understands. At work he's a multi-talented design machine, but if Photoshop and XML are not your favourite topics of conversation, just get him started on B-movies or the best way to cook a microwave burger.

First record: Snoop Dogg - Doggystyle

Joe Colkett [Admin/Customer Service]

"Got a question? Here's the answer!"

We like to keep in touch with our customers, but Joe would actually like to hug each one of you individually. To avoid litigation, we keep him safely locked in the office, where he is allowed to express his love for Prime Loopers by answering all your online questions as fast as he possibly can. He's all over the web day and night, helping our visitors, shepherding our 20,000 facebook followers and laying down vengeance upon pirates and vagabonds. Sometimes we let him out of his box to play in various bands around London, but if you shout a question about Prime Loops while he's onstage, he'll stop the song and give you an answer.

First record: Genesis - I can't Dance

Matthew Yost [Audio Formatting]

"You think you know tech? Think again!"

A member of the Prime Loops team since the beginning, Matthew is one of the developers behind many of the multiple formatting techniques and rules used within popular audio editing programs such as Sound Forge and Acid. Responsible for slicing, mixing, formatting and refining our packs to perfection, he makes sure you receive prime quality product with no technical hitches to interrupt your workflow. After dark, when Matthew's not freaking over formats and frequencies, you can catch him on the decks rocking his own Mantra!

First record: Herbie Hancock - Chameleon

David Rose [Mastering/Production]

"24/7 Studio-syndrome!"

David "Homeless" Rose never leaves the studio. Our production workaholic can be found 24/7 in front of his rack, creating our audio demos and performing his precision mastering magic on our products. In 2009 he devised a round-the-clock intravenous feeding system from hollowed-out XLR cables and a couple of minijacks, and his family haven't seen him since. His obsession with compression, EQ and distortion is probably not healthy, but when you hear the crystal clear Prime Loops sound, you'll agree it's worth the human sacrifice.

First record: Coolio - Gangsta's Paradise

Dmitry Vasilyev [Production]

"Lean, mean, talent machine!"

Nearly every electronic music producer dreams of capturing that original analogue synth sound, but Dmitry actually owns it. His walls of vintage gear make grown men cry, and his unique experience of soviet electronics produces sounds like nothing you've heard before. His synthophilia began when he fell in love with a Vermona Tiracon 6V from East Germany, starting a long line of deep and passionate relationships with beautiful specimens from all corners of the earth… Roland Alpha Juno, Roland Juno-106, Roland MKS-10, Polyvox, Korg Mono/Poly, Korg Poly-800, the list goes on, and on! The scientist behind some of the most original and sought-after collections in our catalogue, there's no limit to what this sonic cyborg can come up with in his lab.

First record: Cannibal Corpse - Tomb of the Mutilated

David Brown [Blog/Media]

"Ready, steady... Blog'n'Roll!"

David is our resident blog wizard, keeping you informed with all the latest news, music industry tips and in-depth tech talk. Check his weekly features to maximise your career possibilities and improve your production skills. Producers have to know what's happening on the scene, so David is here to keep you in the loop, gathering information while you spend more time in the studio. Remember, he's a nice guy, so if you're making something great with our products, drop him a line and see if you become the next feature!

First record: Babylon Zoo - Spaceman

Anup Pereira [Quality Control/Production]

"Lost in sound!"

The main man behind our triple-check quality guarantee, Anup is the chief inspector who ensures that every millisecond of our library is polished to perfection. Jet-setting between Europe and Asia, he has developed a fine ear for subtle detail and atmosphere, detecting the slightest disturbance in the magic of any kind of music. As a producer, his speciality is creating sweeping ambient textures and mystical vibrations, delving deep into the spiritual power of sound. Keep your projects free of impurities with Anup as your guide.

First record: Limp Bizkit - Significant Other

We appreciate feedback, and would love to hear from you - we don't bite, so feel free to say hello!

"I randomly bumped into Prime Loops on the net, and f*ck yeah, just what i was looking for! Great punchy drum sounds, and as a long time Mac user, the Apple loop formats make it so much easier. Amazing rave stabs and basses which have gone straight into my primary sample library!"
